As Clocks Fall Back, Metro to Stay Open Extra Hour

Also, Five Red Line Stations Will Close This Weekend

Metro will close an hour later than usual this Saturday night into Sunday, to accommodate the end of Daylight Saving Time. It will stay open until 3 a.m., when clocks fall back to 2 a.m.

Remember to check the "last train" schedules online or posted at each rail station, and the bus departure times at bus stops or online so you know exactly what time your mode of transport departs.

But that's not all that's going on this weekend on Metro. Five Red Line stations will close for major track work.

The Takoma, Silver Spring, Forest Glen, Wheaton and Glenmont stations will close from 10 p.m. Friday until midnight Sunday. Free shuttle buses will replace trains between the Glenmont and Fort Totten stations.

Metro plans to rebuild tracks, replace communications cables and renovate station platforms.

Riders on the Orange and Blue lines will also face delays this weekend for rail renewal work. Metro says it plans to single-track trains between the McPherson Square and Foggy Bottom stations.
