Metro plans on offering email alerts about bus delays and detours.
Right now, Metro only sends out email alerts for trains and elevators.
Spokesman Dan Stessel tells the Washington Examiner that a special team will work out of the agency's bus operations center in Prince George's County, Md. The group will sit with dispatchers and cameras to find out what is happening with buses out on the road.
To start, The new bus alert service will only be active on weekdays.
Metro hopes to have the system up and running by the end of the year.
