Memorial Day Weekend Metro Track Work

If your plans over the Memorial Day holiday weekend involve Metro, you should factor in some extra travel time -- especially on the Blue and Orange lines.

Four stations will be closed starting at 10 p.m. Friday and continuing through Memorial Day.  Capitol South, Eastern Market, Potomac Avenue and Stadium Armory are the stations affected. Metro is closing the stations so it can replace tracks and switches and improve underground cell phone reception.

Metro is suggesting riders add an extra 20-30 minutes to their travel time.

Free shuttle busses will be available between the four stations that are closed.  Extra Metro staff will also be at those stations to help direct people to those busses.

The stations will reopen Tuesday morning.
