Member of Navy Killed in Md. Crash

A member of the Navy was killed in a crash in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Friday morning. 

Maryland State Police troopers were called to the southbound lanes of Crain Highway at Village Drive just after midnight for a report of a crash. When they arrived at the scene, they found 34-year-old Jonathan Javonia Griffin's heavily damaged Dodge Challenger facing west in the southbound lanes.

Griffin was pronounced dead at the scene.

The force of the crash left debris in both the north and southbound lanes, police said. 

It's not clear what caused Griffin to crash. 

According to police, Griffin was assigned to the National Security Agency at Fort Meade.
