Hagerstown Woman Charged After Baby Left at Hotel Desk

Anne Arundel County say they're charging a Hagerstown woman with child neglect after her 2-month-old baby was left in the care of a hotel clerk.

Leah Ellison, 32, remained locked up with bond set at about $25,000 Thursday, two days after her arrest at the Microtel in Linthicum. Online court records do not list a defense attorney.

Police say they were called to the hotel early Tuesday morning after Ellison's female roommate gave the baby to a desk clerk and left the premises.

Anne Arundel Path reports: "Ellison and another woman rented [a] room where 'officers observed items indicating possible prostitution activity,' according to the police report."

Ellison was arrested when she came to the lobby. She told police she had left the child with her roommate while she visited a friend in another room.

Child Protective Services took custody of the baby.

Charges against the other woman are pending, Patch reported.
