Md. Woman, 77, Charged with Va. Boyfriend's Slaying

Case sent to grand jury

A grand jury will hear charges next month that a 77-year-old Maryland woman killed her 62-year-old Richmond boyfriend whom she said was unfaithful.

The case of Lillian Mae Levy of Mechanicsville, Md., was sent to a grand jury Wednesday. That jury is scheduled to meet Aug. 19, The Free Lance-Star reported.

Levy has been charged with first-degree murder and other charges in the April 27 shooting of James Thomas in Spotsylvania County. He died 12 days later from a massive brain injury.

Investigators have said Levy shot Thomas in the head while he slept in the camper they shared every weekend. She first denied shooting Thomas but later admitted she was angry at him for cheating on her.

Levy's public defender could not be reached Thursday.
