The Harford County Sheriff's Office is investigating the suspicious death of a 9-month-old baby and have obtained an arrest warrant charging her mother with murder.
Investigators say deputies were called to a home in Joppa on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. for a report of a child in cardiac arrest. They say 9-month-old Salena Olivia Baldero was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
Paramedics also treated 19-year-old Qucelia Baldero, the child's mother, with for lacerations to her wrist. Investigators say the mother tried to kill herself by slashing her wrists. She is hospitalized in critical condition.
Qucelia Baldero is charged with first- and second-degree murder, assault and child abuse.
