A 17-year-old Maryland girl who admitted torturing a teen with autism has been sent to a secure facility out of state, where she'll stay until the court determines she can be released.
Lauren Bush had pleaded the juvenile equivalent of guilty before a St. Mary's County judge to second-degree assault and distribution of an obscene video. Bush pleaded guilty May 29 after her case was transferred from adult to juvenile court.
Bush, who NBC4 previously named and pictured, was originally charged with false imprisonment, child pornography solicitation and first-degree assault stemming from abuses she and a 15-year-old girl inflicted on the boy, including holding him at knifepoint and attempting to coerce him into sex with a dog.
Investigators said they also made the teen walk on a partially frozen pond, which resulted in him falling through the ice several times. Each time, police said, the suspects refused to help the boy out of the frigid water.
Because she was charged in juvenile court, Bush will be released before her 21st birthday.
