Md. Emphasizes Need to Re-Enroll in Health Plans

Maryland officials say about a quarter of people who need to re-enroll in the state's health insurance marketplace to get their correct subsidies by Jan. 1 have done so.

Carolyn Quattrocki, who heads the state's health exchange, said Wednesday that Maryland has been working to reach out to about 66,000 people to re-enroll. There's a Dec. 18 deadline to get coverage and correct subsidies starting Jan. 1.

Quattrocki and Rep. Steny Hoyer say the state's redesigned website is working far better than it did in the first troubled enrollment period.

About 65,325 residents have enrolled since the second enrollment period began Nov. 15.

About 37,000 are in private plans. Hoyer says that's about 29 times better than the 1,300 who enrolled over the same period of the first rollout.
