Md. Delegate Injured in Car Crash

Joseph Vallario Jr. released from hospital Saturday morning

A Maryland state delegate has been released from a local hospital after suffering minor injuries in a car accident in Prince George's County.

Police say that Delegate Joseph F. Vallario Jr. was driving north on Brandywine Road when his car was struck by another vehicle at around 9:30 p.m. Friday night. A third vehicle was also involved in the crash.

The specifics of the accident were not immediately available, but investigators said that the accident was not Vallario's fault and the person who caused the accident was cited with several moving violations.

Vallario, a Democrat, represents Assembly District 27A, which covers parts of Calvert and Prince George's County. He has been a member of the House of Delegates since 1975 and chair of the Assembly's Judiciary Committee since 1993. He was treated for minor injuries and released Saturday morning.
