Md. Confirms 15th Meningitis Case

One person has died in the state as a result of the outbreak

Maryland health officials say they've now identified 15 cases of meningitis in the state believed to be linked to steroid injections for back pain.

The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene confirmed the 15th case Saturday. One person in Maryland has died as a result of the infections.

The medication, made by a specialty pharmacy in Massachusetts, has been recalled.

The toll nationwide has slowly been growing. The latest figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show 197 illnesses and 15 deaths in 13 states.
