McDonald's Beating Caught On Tape

Police: Two in custody in McDonald's Beating

Baltimore police said they have taken a pair of teens into custody in connection with a beating caught on tape at a McDonald's restaurant.

Cell phone video captured two people punching and kicking a woman inside a bathroom Monday evening.

According to our sister station, WBAL TV in Baltimore, the civil rights organization, Equality Maryland identified the victim as a 22-year-old transgender woman.

Baltimore police said Friday a 14-year-old girl faces assault charges.  Chargest are still pending for an 18-year-old suspect.

McDonald's issued a statement saying it is shocked by the video and nothing is more important than the safety of its customers and employees.

The owner of the McDonald's franchise where the assault took place, Mitchell McPherson, said that the employee that took the video is no longer employed at the restaurant.  McPherson said that he was investigating the response of his employees to the incident, saying in a statement that other employees may be disciplined as well.

Equality Maryland suggested police to pursue the case as a hate crime.
