ROCKVILLE, Md. -- A certified massage therapist from Montgomery County could soon revive her horse massage practice.

Mercedes Clemens filed a lawsuit against the Maryland Board of Chiropractic and Massage Therapy Examiners last summer after the agency sent her a letter that directed her to stop massaging animals or face losing her massage license.

On Tuesday, Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge David Boynton urged the board to rescind the order, saying it only has authority to regulate who can massage humans.

An attorney for the chiropractic board says officials are meeting on May 14 and will consider whether to keep the policy barring massage therapists from practicing on animals.

The next court hearing is set for June 2.
