Maryland State Police Cruiser Hit at Prince George's County Traffic Stop

A Maryland State Police trooper was injured after diving out of the way of another vehicle while on a traffic stop in Prince George’s County, Maryland, early Sunday morning.

Police said the trooper was working a multiple vehicle crash along Allentown Road around 3:30 a.m., when another car slid into the unmarked trooper car. The trooper jumped out of the way but was injured as he jumped over the jersey wall to avoid the collision..

The driver of the striking vehicle, Linwood Levi Watkins, 43, of Accokeek, Maryland, was injured and transported to the hospital.

Maryland State Police are investigating the circumstances behind the crash.
