Maryland Man Dies After Trench Collapse

A man pulled from a collapsed trench in Frederick County, Maryland, died, according to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office.

Crews removed 26-year-old Robert Craig from the trench after it collapsed Tuesday morning.

Craig was buried from his waist down in about 10 feet of rock and dirt for several hours before crews managed to free him, the Frederick News-Post reported.

Craig was a plumbing contractor who had been working at a residential construction site in Myersville at the time of the accident.

Craig survived the initial collapse but was complaining of hip and leg injuries after his rescue. It's unclear whether Craig died Tuesday or Wednesday.
