Maryland Couple Charged After Son Found Wandering

A Maryland couple has been charged with child neglect after police say their 3-year-old son was found walking unattended in a Callaway parking lot.

Police say 29-year-old Joseph David Dirolf was watching the toddler on Oct. 2 when he fell asleep after taking prescription medication. The boy's mother, 27-year-old Danielle Irene Dirolf, was playing video games inside the home at the time, police add.

At some point, the boy left the home and walked through the woods to the Callaway Village Center. He was found around 12:20 p.m., wearing only pants.

Both parents were charged with neglect of a minor. Police say Joseph Dirolf had been charged with neglect the previous week after a similar incident on Sept. 25.
