Mark Center Survives Terrible Traffic Tuesday

Alexandria Police help get traffic around the new BRAC living quarters.

The Base Realignment and Closure or BRAC relocation to the Mark Center in Alexandria is underway and slowly picking up steam.

Today Alexandria Police were out directing traffic around the new facilities.  They will be back out again this evening focusing on major intersections and making sure traffic is flowing smoothly.

There are also programs to help encourage drivers to leave their cars parked.  There are new Alexandria City bus routes to the Mark Center and some Department of Defense employees with ID may be able to ride for free.  Even with terrible Tuesday, and the opening of the new Mark Center and lots of rain, it appears traffic on Seminary moved without problem.

Residents say most of the Mark buildings are still pretty empty... they’re not sure how long the smooth commutes will last.
