At least three people are dead in an SUV accident in Prince George’s County, Maryland that authorities called "horrific."
The one-vehicle crash happened around 2:15 a.m. on southbound BW Parkway near Powder Mill Road.
According to Prince George’s County Fire and Rescue, several of the 8 passengers inside the SUV were ejected. An adult and teenage female were pronounced dead at the scene, and a 3-month-old was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Five others were taken to local hospitals with serious and possibly life-threatening injuries.
U.S. Park Police and Maryland State Police assisted in the rescue and recovery effort. "Prince George’s County Firefighters and Paramedics responded to a horrific crash scene this morning that was troubling for even the most seasoned first responders," authorities said in a release.
The crash shut down southbound lanes of the Parkway for hours while crews investigated the scene and tried to reconstruct the accident.
