Police: Man Was Shot, Pushed Onto Road Near I-295

A D.C. man died after he was found shot on a road just off I-295, near the D.C.-Maryland border, during the Thursday evening rush hour.

Armani Coles of 2nd Street NW died after he was found with multiple gunshot wounds on Kenilworth Avenue at Eastern Avenue. He was 27.

Prince George's County police initially could not name him; they said he was not carrying identification. 

Based on an initial investigation, police believe Coles was shot and then pushed out of a vehicle. Detectives are working to determine where the shooting occurred. 

Police are working to identify a suspect and establish a motive.

Police received a call about 6:20 p.m. about an unresponsive man seen in the roadway.

Officers responded and found the man. Medics took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation snarled rush hour traffic on I-295 and New York Avenue.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call Prince George's County police. A reward of as much as $25,000 is offered.
