Police in Manassas are trying to figure out who shot and killed a pet dog.

It happened Wednesday afternoon in the 8300 block of Magnolia Court.

Police say the dog was outside, but it’s unclear if he was in his own yard at the time.

City Animal Control officials took the dog to a local animal hospital, but had to euthanize him early Thursday morning because of his injuries.

Police believe this was not a random attack, and are currently investigating the incident.
