A woman was arrested and charged with attempted murder after police said she stabbed a pregnant woman Sunday in Prince George's County.

Police said officers responded to the 3500 block of Silver Park Drive in the Suitland area for a report of a person with a knife chasing a woman around an apartment complex parking lot. They found the woman, who was between eight- and nine-months pregnant, cut and bleeding.

She was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Veronica Delores Deramous, 40, was arrested at about 7 p.m. Sunday by Arlington, Va., police. She's being held in Arlington and is being charged with first- and second-degree attempted murder, first- and second-degree assault and false imprisonment.

There was no immediate word on what led to the stabbing.
