Man Who Died in Police Custody Identified

Report: Suspect may have eaten crack cocaine

A man who died while in police custody may have eaten crack cocaine, The Washington Post reports.

Montgomery County police identified the man as 34-year-old Folahan Oladeinde of Virginia.

Officers said Oladeinde and several other people were sitting in a parked car near the 14600 block of Devereaux Terrace in North Potomac on Monday morning. Officers went to there after receiving a call that a group of people in a car were involved in drug activity, police said.

Police questioned Oladeinde, who was allegedly sitting in the driver’s seat, and soon determined that he was wanted on an unrelated charge. When officers took him into custody, “they noticed that he was chewing on something,” police said.

The man started having a seizure, police said. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.
