A man who walked out of a Maryland hospital after changing his mind about being committed for a psychological evaluation is now facing felony charges for leading officers on a chase and hitting an officer, police say.
Takoma Park police said a man and his family had agreed he would be voluntarily committed at Washington Adventist Hospital on Sunday.
When they arrived at the hospital, he changed his mind. At one point he locked himself inside a relative's vehicle and wouldn't come out.
Police arrived to try and get him out of the vehicle and the man took off, running over an officer's foot. The officer is OK, police said.
The suspect then drove into D.C. and was eventually found inside his home on Underwood Street NW, police said. He was arrested and could face charges for fleeing and eluding and assault on a police officer.
No further information was immediately available.
