A man intentionally walking along train tracks near the Arlington Cemetery Metro station Monday evening was struck and killed just after 8 p.m.
Police have not yet released why the man was walking along the tracks, only that he was trespassing.
"The incident occured short of the platform," Brian McGraw with Arlington County Fire said.
Blue Line trains single-tracked into late Monday night, operating every 20 minutes.
