Man Threatens Metro Train Operator With Knife for Going Too Slow: Police

A man pulled a knife on a Metro operator for going too slow, according to Metro Transit Police.

A man kicked and banged on the door of a Green Line train operator’s cab as it was stopped at a station Friday morning, police said. When the operator opened the door, 29-year-old Norman W. Polk allegedly showed a 3-inch folding knife and threatened the operator for not moving the train fast enough.

The operator closed the door and called for assistance.

Police arrested Polk at the Anacostia station about 8:40 a.m. He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

The Green Line was delayed 15 minutes during rush hour, and two trains were single-tracked due to the incident.
