Man Stabbed in Dispute at Post Office in Silver Spring

Could cutting in line at the post office have led to a stabbing in Montgomery County?

Two men were involved in an altercation inside the Colesville Road Post Office on New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring, Md., about 2 p.m. Thursday when one stabbed the other. Their dispute may have been over somebody cutting in line, sources told News4.

Post officer employees tried to subdue the attacker with pepper spray, but they sprayed both men, and the attacker fled the scene. He was caught by police a short time later at New Hampshire and Route 29.

The victim was rushed to a hospital as a priority one trauma, but he is now expected to survive. Police told News4 the pepper-spraying saved the victim.

The post office was closed for a time but has reopened.
