Police Investigate 2nd Deadly Shooting Near Playground

Police are investigating a second deadly shooting this month near a northeast Washington playground.

One man was shot in the head at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in the park in the 6200 block of Banks Place.

Police haven’t released the victim’s name.

No arrests have been made in Wednesday night's shooting.

This is the second deadly shooting outside the Watts Branch Recreation Center this month.

Joshua Hopkins, 19, was shot and killed near the recreation center on July 3. Hopkins was home for the summer after finishing his freshman year at Fairmont State University in West Virginia.

He was a former intern for Pennsylvania Congressman Chaka Fattah.

Police arrested Antoine Taylor, 29, of Fort Washington, Md., and charged him with first-degree murder.
