Man Shot, Killed After Trooper Injured

Maryland State Police say troopers shot and killed a man who may have hit or dragged a trooper with his vehicle at the Salisbury barrack.

While the barrack's duty officer checked a repair to a man's vehicle in the parking lot on Tuesday night, he called for assistance.

Police say the duty officer and a second trooper who responded to help fired their weapons and the duty officer was found injured on the edge of the parking lot.

Thirty-two-year-old Winfield Fisher of Salisbury, who had requested the repair check, was found in his vehicle crashed into a guardrail about 150 yards away. Police say he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Cpl. Anthony Meyers was treated and released. He and Trooper Jeffrey Wilkins have been placed on routine administrative leave.
