A dedicated family man is dead after being hit by a car while waiting for a bus to go to work. Darcy Spencer talks with the victim's family about the horrific crash.
A 59-year-old man was killed after being run over by a car at a bus stop on Veirs Mill Road in Montgomery County early Saturday morning.
Police say that Rolando Grande Martinez of Silver Spring was waiting at the bus stop near the intersection of Veirs Mill Road and Centerhill Street when a 2009 Mercury Milan driven by 24-year-old Yared Tesfaye of Rockville jumped the curb shortly before 5 a.m.
According to investigators, the car struck Martinez before colliding with a Toyota Tacoma in the driveway of 11810 Huggins Drive.
Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene, while Tesfaye was taken to a local hospital with nonthreatening injuries.
Montgomery County Police are investigating what may have caused Tesfaye's car to jump the curb. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call (301) 840-2435.
