Man Robs Preschool in Chevy Chase

Police Search for Suspect After Morning Robbery

Police in Chevy Chase are looking for a man who stole money and a Metro farecard out of two purses at a local preschool and attempted to commit the same crime at three other preschools.

It happened Friday morning at the All Saints Preschool in Chevy Chase Village during the busy morning drop-off period at around 9:15 a.m.

Police say the man told the receptionist that he was interested in getting information about the preschool.  While staff was busy with the children outside, the suspect entered several rooms in the preschool and stole cash and a Metro farecard from two purses.

Police say the same suspect has attempted the same scheme at 3 other church-run schools or preschools in the area: Chevy Chase Baptist, Chevy Chase Presbyterian, and Blessed Sacrament.

The suspect is described as a black male with a shaved head, standing approximately six feet tall and weighing around 200 pounds. On his visit to All Saints Preschool, the man wore a black thigh length coat with an upturned collar, black pants, and black shoes. He wore a large silver crucifix around his neck on a chain.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Chevy Chase Village Police Department at 301-654-7300.
