A young man has life-threatening injuries after he fell more than 40 feet in Great Falls, Virginia, on Friday, officials say.
Deputy Chief Jason Jenkins of Fairfax County Fire and Rescue said it is unclear if the man had been hiking or rock climbing.
The fall occurred before 6 p.m. Friday.
The victim was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital. He was not identified.
