Man Pushes Woman Down Embankment, Sexually Assaults Her: PD

Police say they're searching for 23-year-old Juan Carlos Lopez Ramirez in connection with the rape of a 19-year-old woman Wednesday night.

The victim told police she was attacked Wednesday night between 9:45 p.m. and 10 p.m. as she walked in the area of Route 29 and the Gainesville Square Shopping Center. Police say the suspect approached her from behind, pushed her down the embankment and sexually assaulted her.

Police say the victim fought her attacker off and was able to get away. A passerby heard her screams as she climbed out of the embankment and stopped to her her.

The man was last seen running into the woods near Route 29. Prior to the attack, he was seen riding a bicycle in the area, and police said Friday they believe Ramirez, also known as "Noah," is responsible.

He's described as a clean-shaven Hispanic man between 25 and 30 years old. He's 5 feet 6 inches tall, has a muscular but thin build, and short, dark hair. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt or tank top and baggy jeans.

Police say Ramirez may have injuries to his face, shoulder and hands from the struggle with the victim.
