Man Pleads Guilty to Violent Attack on Jogger

A 23-year-old Washington, D.C. man pleaded guilty Monday to first-degree sexual abuse for a assault on a jogger near Meridian Hill Park in April.

The victim was walking home from her jog at about 7 a.m. April 21, listening to music through earphones, when Glen Green began following her, according to the U.S. Attorney's office for the District of Columbia.

Green abruptly grabbed the victim in an alleyway near 14th and Chapin streets NW, lugged her behind a dumpster, punched her in the face and sexually assaulted her, the U.S. Attorney said.

"The victim struggled to free herself, demanding repeatedly that the defendant let her go," the U.S. Attorney's office said in a press release. "Green, who is much larger than the victim, told her not to make this more difficult than it had to be."

He stole her iPod and ran from the scene.

The woman returned home to call the police and was taken to Washington Hospital Center shortly afterwards.

Green will be sentenced on Aug. 21. He could be sentenced to up to 19 years in prison and required to register as a sex offender — a title Green could hold for rest of his life.
