Man Pleads Guilty to Dropping Cement Block On Sleeping Puppy

24-year-old Sean Delontay Branch could serve up to five years in prison

The man who dropped a nearly 100-pound cement slab on a 6-month-old puppy pled guilty yesterday.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, Sean Delontay Branch could possibly serve the maximum five years in prison and be required to pay a $25,000 fine for felony cruelty to animals.

The morning of June 29, a puppy named King Tut was left sleeping behind a convenience store on Mt. Olivet Road in Northeast Washington.

U.S. Attorney Ronald Machen says Branch was angry with the owner of the dog that morning, and while the pet was unattended, the 24-year-old crushed King Tut with more than 90 pounds of concrete.

A witness to the incident immediately alerted the owner, but the dog was found dead.

Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 27.
