The investigation continues into a police shooting Tuesday afternoon that left one man dead in Fairfax County.

Police were checking on a report of a suicidal man in a development near the Kingstowne Shopping center off Thurlton Drive in Alexandria.

A 37-year-old man displayed what appeared to be a weapon in a threatening manor and was shot but police, police said.

He was taken to a hospital, but died.
