A 75-year-old man was killed when the car he was driving collided with an ambulance Monday afternoon.

The Calvert County paramedic unit was dispatched from Prince Frederick to a call in Lusby around 4:30 p.m. While traveling southbound on Route 4, a car crossed its path along Sixes Road.

The driver of the car, 75-year-old Allen Leroy Parker,  was pronounced dead at an area hospital. Police say Parker was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the car.

Officials say the ambulance's emergency lights and sirens were activated.

The woman driving the ambulance, 23-year-old Katie Kreider, was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. She is listed in stable condition.
