Man Killed, 2 Hurt After Shooting in Shopping Center Parking Lot in Chantilly

A man was fatally shot and two people were wounded early Friday in the parking lot of a shopping center in Chantilly, Virginia.

Steven A. Green, 51, has been arrested and charged with malicious wounding and murder.

Police believe a fight broke out in a shopping center parking lot and then Green fired off a gun, a Fairfax County police spokesperson Emilie Voss said. Fairfax County police received a call about 1:30 a.m. reporting a shooting on the 14500 block of Lee Jackson Memorial Highway.

Responding officers found 30-year-old Miguel Angel Leiva Hernandez suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead, Voss said.

News4's news partners at Telemundo 44 report Hernandez was at the restaurant to pick up his wife who was attending a party.

A woman and a man were also hurt, but not by gunfire, police said. Their injuries are not life threatening, police say.

Police say Green waited on the scene for police and cooperated with detectives. A gun was found when he was arrested, police say.

Several people at the scene were detained and cooperated with police interviews, Voss said.

Green is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.

The medical examiner is conducting an autopsy. Police say they will release details on the identities of those involved later in the investigation.

The shopping center houses several restaurants, a party hall and a gym.
