A man was jumped by about 10 young men while walking along the Metropolitan Branch Trail in Northeast D.C. Thursday night.
The victim was walking in the 600 block of Rhode Island Avenue NE near a group of men believed to be between the ages of 18 and 22 when one of them announced a robbery, police said.
The entire group proceeded to assault the victim and take his property before fleeing, police said. The victim was able to backtrack to his place of work and call police.
The Metro Branch Trail was the site of multiple assaults and robberies last summer -- police even enacted extra surveillance in the area.
Anyone with information about the case should call police at 202-727-9099 or text a tip to 50411.
