Man Injured in Rendezvous Lounge Fight Dies

Metropolitan police say a man injured in a brawl at an Adams Morgan nightclub has died from his injuries.

Police said Rockwell John Flint, 45, died Friday at the hospital he was taken to after the Aug. 30 brawl. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said Flint died from multiple blunt impact injuries. His death will now be treated as a homicide.

Authorities said Flint and other patrons intervened after 37-year-old James Woods allegedly struck a bartender at Rendezvous Lounge in the head with a glass. According to police, Flint and Woods grappled at the top of the stairs when both men fell.

Flint, a member of a local band and substitute teacher, was rushed to the hospital with a broken neck, a fractured skull and a brain hemorrhage.

Woods has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. There's no word on his current condition.

The incident came about three weeks after a stabbing at another Adams Morgan bar. One of the bar’s security guards was arrested and charged in that Aug. 10 incident. That bar has since closed, The Washington Post reported.
