A father of five, murdered at a gas station in Capitol Heights, Md. Pat Collins speaks to his mother, who's struggling to deal with the loss.

A 27-year-old father of five was stabbed to death near FedEx Field last Sunday night.

Crews responded to the 300 block of Meadow Way in Landover at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday for a report of stabbing.

According to investigators, David Janard Jenkins of Landover, Md., and a friend were in the car of another man at a gas station when they got into a dispute with another group of men.

At some point, both Jenkins and his friend were stabbed. The third man attempted to drive the two victims to the hospital, but it was too late for Jenkins who died from his injuries.

"It broke my heart because that's my only son. I do not wish that upon anybody. I find myself ... just breaking down in tears," Jenkins' mother Jane Jones told News4.

Police say the second victim's injuries are not life-threatening.

Anyone with information is asked to call Prince George's County Police at 301-772-4925.
