Man Due in Court For 1980 Va. Killing

A West Virginia inmate is due in a Virginia courtroom in a slaying that has gone unsolved for more than three decades.

Ronald Richard Cloud is scheduled to appear Friday to enter pleas related to the 1980 shooting death of 30-year-old Brad Baker in Fauquier County. His appearance will be in General District Court.

The 64-year-old defendant was transported from the Mount Olive Correctional Center in West Virginia earlier this week.

Cloud is charged with first-degree murder and several other counts.

According to media reports, Cloud's stepfather had been fired by Baker on the day of the shooting. Baker was the manager of Kinloch Farm, an estate owned by relatives of Stephen Currier of the famed Currier and Ives prints and banker and philanthropist Andrew Mellon.
