A man died Tuesday after his leg was crushed last week by a Metrobus driver who hadn't realized the man was in his path, police said.
Reginald Rubin Burrell, 64, was exiting a bus on the 2800 block of Bladensburg Road NE about 6:20 a.m. Thursday when he lost his balance, the Metropolitan Police Department said Wednesday. Burrell fell against the bus and then fell to the ground as the driver pulled away from the bus stop. Unaware that the man had fallen, the driver pulled away, running over Burrell's leg, police said.
Burrell was rushed to a local hospital. He died Tuesday from what were believed to be complications of his injuries.
The B2, B8, B9, and H6 Metro bus routes run along this stretch of Bladensburg Road.
