Man Convicted of Soliciting Girls Outside School Had Mattress, Condoms in Van, Documents Say

A man who police say has had a history of stalking girls near middle and high schools in the Silver Spring, Maryland, area was convicted Wednesday for asking two teenage sisters to perform a sex act on him.

Daniel Dickson, 34, approached a 15-year-old girl and her older sister outside Loiederman Middle School in June 2017 and asked them to perform a sexual act multiple times, court documents say.

Dickson drove off when the teens told him they were going to take pictures with their cell phones. Prosecutors said one sister managed to get video of Dickson's Mazda van and his license plate.

"Thank goodness that she was quick on her feet and really very smart to take a video," said Ramon Korionoff, spokesman for the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office.

The teens then called police and told them which way Dickson went.

Officers found Dickson a short time later and discovered a mattress on the back seat of the van along with condoms, oils and body spray, according to court documents.

One sister told police she had seen Dickson parked outside the middle school at least two mornings every week.

Police remembered Dickson from an incident in 2013 in which a 17-year-old girl reported to police that he followed her as she walked home from Wheaton High School and said, "Come play with me," "Wanna see this?" and "What's your number?"

According to court documents, Dickson admitted to officers after that incident that he followed girls around and he "was only going to do it until someone told him to stop."

Dickson was convicted Wednesday of sexual solicitation of a minor.

WTOP reports Dickson will be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison in March. The felony conviction carries a $25,000 fine, and Dickson has to register as a sex offender.
