Man Climbs Through Window, Sexually Assaults UMd. Student Police say man used chair to get to window

Police warn after a man entered a University of Maryland student's home through a window and assaulted her.

A man entered a University of Maryland student's home through a window early Friday morning, got into her bed while she slept and sexually assaulted her, police said.

Police believe the suspect used a chair to climb in the first-floor window of the home at about 4 a.m. just off the Maryland campus in the 4200 block of Knox Road.

"He touched her inappropriately," said Prince George's County Corporal Mike Rodriguez.  "She screamed and the suspect fled."

The victim described the suspect as white, about 20 years old, wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans.

She said he had medium-length hair that was black or possibly dark brown.

Police are urging residents to be careful.

"Make sure your doors and windows are locked, draw your shades, leave a light on in some part of the house," Rodriguez said.

Campus officials urge students to keep a eye on their neighborhood, and, if they see anything even remotely suspicious, to call police.

  • Pachacutec Monday, Nov 24 at 8:36 AM FLAG COMMENT Why are posters going on about illegal aliens and hispanics on this thread? The guy was described as white! Wonder if it's the same one who committed other sex offenses on or near the campus? Hopefully he'll be caught soon before he claims any more victims.

  • Police Cadet Recruits Saturday, Nov 22 at 4:11 PM FLAG COMMENT Funding from Congress may foster some consolation but it llies within the individual. If you can prevent crime rather than to stop crime when it starts, you have a unique system. Just last week, an elderly woman living in Leisure World got accosted by five hispanics coming up from the P.G. County area and tried to take the woman's car. The lady tried to stab one of the suspects with a pocket knife but all five suspect took ... MORE >
