Man Charged With Robbing Church, Preschool

Suspect held on $125,000 bond in Howard County

A Howard County man is in jail, accused of stealing from a church and preschool.

Officers arrested Craig Daniel Webster, 46, of Ellicott City, Md., last month. He's charged with second-degree burglary, two counts of theft and attempted credit card misuse.

Investigators said Webster stole instruments from the Bethel Korean Presbyterian Church on Nov. 11 and sold them to a music store.

Webster also is accused of stealing from La Petite Academy on Nov. 12 and Nov. 23. Authorities said they tracked him down after he used a stolen credit card that belonged to the school at a nearby drug store.

After arresting Webster, investigators searched his home and discovered a digital camera that also belonged to the school.

Along with Bethel Korean Presbyterian Church and La Petite Academy, police say four other religious institutions were burglarized in the past couple of months. Investigators are working to determine if any other stolen property may be connected to Webster.

Webster is currently being held on a $125,000 bond.

Police in Howard County are asking any other church or business that may have been robbed in the past couple months but didn't report it to give them a call at (410) 313-2200.
