Man Charged in Rape of Missing Va. Teen

Maryland State Police have charged a man with rape, human trafficking and other sex offenses after an underage girl says he raped her in a La Plata hotel.

Troopers say on Tuesday they located the girl, who had been reported missing from Virginia since that morning, in the hotel. Police say the girl told them she was forced to have sex with the man she was traveling with, in exchange for crack cocaine.

Police established contact with the teen, who gave them the address of a hotel the two were staying in. Upon officer arrival, Ronald W. Cheek, 43, of Greenbelt, Md. was immediately placed under arrest. 

He has been charged with second degree rape, hman trafficking, second degree sex offense, second degree perverted practice, fourth degree sex acts with a minor, possession of crack cocaine and driving on a suspended license.

Cheek is behind bars at Charles County Detention Center without bond.
