Two men assaulted a man believed to be in his 50s near the Smithsonian Castle Monday evening, NBC Washington's John Schriffen reported.

U.S. Park Police are investigating the attack, which took place during an attempted robbery. The culprits didn't get away with anything.

It's unknown if the attackers had weapons, but the victim was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
