A woman was able to fend off a man attempting to sexually assault her during the early morning hours Tuesday in Southeast.
According to police, the woman was walking in the area of the 3300 block of E Street SE when she was approached by a man. He at first engaged her in conversation, then snatched her belongings and tried to sexually assault her.
Police said she was able to fight him off until police arrived to arrest him. He has been identified as 29-year-old Rochelle Sireal of Hyattsville, Md. Sireal is facing charges of attempt to commit first degree sexual assault and robbery.
