Arrest Made in 2011 Murder of D.C. Firefighter

A Northeast D.C. man was arrested Thursday morning in connection with the 2011 murder of a D.C. firefighter.

Melvin Lamond Linkins, 39, was arrested at 8:15 a.m. and charged with second-degree murder for the death of 37-year-old Marc Emilio Dancy of Clinton, Md.

Dancy was found Jan. 23, 2011in the 3000 block of 7th Street NE, where officers responded to a report of an unconscious man. Dancy was suffering from wounds to his head and chest.

Authorities say Dancy was injured during an argument with Linkins. An autopsy revealed the cause of death to be blunt force trauma.

His death was ruled a homicide Wednesday.

Dancy was a five-year veteran of the D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services in D.C.'s Trinidad neighborhood. He left behind a wife and three children.
