Man Arrested for Vienna Bank Robbery

Witness alerted police to exploding dye pack.

Police have arrested one of the two suspects in a bank robbery that took place Saturday morning in Vienna.

Akeem Williams, 20, of Alexandria, was arrested and charged with robbery and possession of marijuana after a separate search uncovered the suspected drug.

Police say that Williams and another man entered the M&T Bank at 527 Maple Avenue, Southeast in Vienna. One of the men handed the teller a note demanding money. Investigators say that a weapon was implied, but not displayed.

The men were given an undisclosed amount and money and a pack of dye before they fled the scene. A witness saw the dye pack explode and alerted Vienna Police.

Williams is currently being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. A second suspect remains at large.
